To keep the guarantee valid, the property needs to be properly maintained. This includes following standard maintenance guidance, such as the CSIRO Foundation Maintenance Guide, keeping drainage in good order, maintaining termite protection systems, and notifying us promptly if you suspect an issue.
No. The guarantee applies to the original owner named in the building contract and is not transferable.
Contact us in writing with a description of the concern and any supporting photos. We’ll arrange an inspection within a reasonable timeframe and determine whether the issue qualifies under the guarantee. If it does, we’ll work to repair or rectify it at our discretion.
This guarantee is provided in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and the statutory warranties under the Home Building Act 1989 (NSW). Those rights apply automatically and cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. Nothing in this guarantee limits them.
A structural defect means a failure of a load-bearing element that compromises the integrity of the building or makes it unsafe or uninhabitable. This includes failures in foundations and footings, structural framing, and load-bearing masonry, assessed in accordance with the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards. Cosmetic issues, normal settlement, and non-structural cracking are not covered.
The guarantee applies to all work completed under a signed Turrell building contract. For renovations and additions, it covers only the new work. It does not extend to any existing structure or to new work that is damaged as a result of existing structure failure.
